LaCorte and Karow pitch their way to Pitcher of the Week accolades

DELAWARE, Ohio ~ 
As Lima continues its race toward the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League single-season wins record, it has received a number of tremendous individual performances over the course of the last few weeks. The most recent Loco to record a superb performance was Dan Jones (Marietta), who earned GLSCL Player of the Week honors after hitting .636 this past week.

(Otterbein) and Licking County�??s Nick Karow (Furman) also earned Co-Pitcher of the Week accolades for their efforts.

 

Jones led all GLSCL hitters with his .636 batting clip and drove in four runs. In 20 games this season, he has posted a .373 batting average that ranks sixth in the league. He has also driven in 14 runs and scored nine more.

LaCorte, meanwhile, turned in one of the leagues most dominating performances in the Scouts 3-2 win over the Settlers on July 21. In the win, LaCorte tossed a complete game in which he surrendered just one run on six hits through nine innings. In eight appearances this summer, he is 4-2 with a 3.72 ERA.

Karow has solidified himself as one of the leagues top relievers after going 1-0 this past week with a pair of saves and five strikeouts. In 12 relief appearances, he is 1-0 with a 0.63 ERA and possesses a league-best eight saves.


The GLSCL is a charter member of the National Alliance of Summer Collegiate Baseball (www.nacsb.org), which is recognized as the premier organization in summer collegiate wood bat baseball.  The GLSCL is funded in part by Major League Baseball and is only one of eight summer collegiate leagues in the country so designated.
